Monthly Musings

Some heartfelt inspiration for our readers...

APPRECIATION is one of the keys to living in the Culture of Love.

Gratitude is the human experience, Appreciation is the Soul's intelligent acknowledgement of that gratitude.

When combined with humility, one naturally sees the Oneness in All That Is and seeks to uplift and extend one's self towards Other. Other has now become One with Me.

Ponderings on Appreciation

The Secret Super Powers of Appreciation!!

In such a beautiful world that we find ourselves living in today, there’s sadly an ever-increasing global trend where ‘fault finding’ has become the new ‘norm’ in an attempt to help create lasting solutions.

One has to take stock and ask, ‘Is that really helping?’ Whilst it’s important to acknowledge what’s ‘not working’ have we then gone and got ourselves lost in that ‘forest’ of dysfunction?

So, let’s take a look at the possibilities of what a little Appreciation could do to turn things around and delve into just a few of the main ‘Secret Super Powers’ that come when we choose to Appreciate instead of finding fault.

So, what is ‘Appreciation?’ There are some lovely definitions, however, this is the one that rings true in my heart:

”APPRECIATION is the ability to cut through the immediate landscape or moment in time and see the genuine positives in ANY situation. This enables us to ‘add fuel’ to the fire we wish and choose to grow. What we love and appreciate then grows and builds momentum, sometimes despite our lives and the possible moments of challenge, turning life’s ‘lessons’ into some of our greatest gifts instead. Appreciation is also like a laser beam that cuts through and validates your positive steps and moments and brings them into the foreground, so we can stay on track and keep moving forward and building on that.”

We each always have the right to choose, even when we feel without choice. Some choices support and nurture us and raise us or our work projects up; then there are the choices which take us in the opposite direction, leading us to feel sometimes hopeless or a victim about our lives, our projects or at work. Neither choice is better or worse, yet simply spawn different consequences.

The good news is Appreciation has no bias and works simply when applied!  Finding that ‘one’ thing to appreciate and staying true to that, will birth a new way for Hope and change to ground, though it will take some effort initially as all effective habits do. Simple, but not always easy at first. One day at a time, one choice in each moment and expect to make some mistakes along the way, as all great leaders and Statements throughout time have done so.  The difference between us and these great giants in history that have changed the world for the better, is that they learn from their mistakes and seldom make the same one twice. They have learned to Appreciate the journey.

As one of my favourite authors, Richard Bach once wrote in his book ‘One’,  “There’s no disaster that can’t become a blessing and no blessing that can’t become a disaster.” The secret ingredient is Appreciation.

Secret Super Power #One

Appreciation is YOUR choice! How empowering is that!! You just have to find one thing to accept and appreciate each day and bring your focus to that. Light begets more Light, Success begets more Success. Appreciation begets more Appreciation. It's in your hands.

Secret Super Power #Two

With Appreciation, all perceived failures can become your greatest gifts. We just have to look for the gift of the lesson they bring, acknowledge, and heed the learnings and let the ‘old ways go,’ choosing to do things differently next time. There’s always a ‘silver lining.’

Secret Super Power #Three

Each time you chose to Appreciate something in your life or work, you lay another brick in your pathway leading you towards building a more loving and harmonious outcome. How Hopeful and inspirational is that!  One step at a time.

So never stop looking for ways to appreciate and support yourselves and your lives and the ones you love, because it all starts with you and if you allow it, the enrichment will be beyond your wildest dreams!

MYTH BUSTERS

section where we explore commonly held beliefs and habitual thought, and present other perspectives and ponder points.

We hope you enjoy pondering on the topic of Appreciation this month and come up with some outworn thought patterns, and update your internal database.

I would like to bust this myth ...

Appreciation is much more than we may generally use it for. How would it feel to have a sense of Appreciation in everything, within yourself and in your environment? This could be a personal challenge perhaps where you get to value the whole experience, embrace learning (however shown) and deepen your sense of self in the process.

When stretched beyond our current level of comfort, we can feel negatively, resistant, uncomfortable, unfamiliar, and unappreciative. Yes, there are things which are difficult but Appreciation in its higher expression encompasses all of this.

I would like to share with you a recent professional experience of a person who was deeply distressed as a close family member whom she was caring for became very ill. Over time, she was able to see and value change that needed to occur, whereby as she admitted, was “invested in a neediness of the feeling of being personally appreciated”. This sensitive insight and profound shift provided a new level of Appreciation that allowed change to radiate into many levels.

“Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well”. ~ Voltaire.

A question I would like to leave you with ... How deep is your level of Appreciation in your life? I hope this helps burst any myths you have about this all-encompassing quality.

Who We Are and What We Do

If you have not yet studied with us, you may not already know that the Global Coaching Academy has been creating and delivering heart-based training programmes since 2004.

We began as a very small Registered Training Organisation in Perth offering a Certificate of Mentoring and Coaching. This was in response to people who were looking for a meaningful course and qualification that wasn't all about 'rah rah' and money making, rather about wanting to make a difference and support others to become the best versions of themselves. 17 years later, GCA is delivering a Diploma of Mentoring, Coaching and Interpersonal Facilitation, as a fully internationally recognised ICF accredited coach training program to participants in United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, Asia and New Zealand.
